A poem to a life love

If you find yourself without me
there will be hugs available
from someone else

words from poetry collections,
reassuring sounds
from orchestras and radios

There will be lonely moments
among the new and old
company you’ll keep,

and yes, things will seem
a little cold
sometimes.

Know that although I too
am in a cold place, unable
to reheat you with my breath

or my arms my whispers
and as sad as you that
what was warm has gone

we had time that
is not destroyed,
and more remains for you.

Yes, the fuel ran out
and that’s over now
but please know you were adored

Paedophiles do not pursue the lives of cuckoos purposefully. We begin loved and welcomed. We are babies, then children and we grow up alongside you.

There was something familiar / about the way you milled, accelerated / when that little playground rock / was first upturned

benjamin harker

It was only a stolen kiss, / on the cheek, snaffled by darting in / over your shoulder, during registration, / while you talked to your friend,
