Brian had something / I did not / a lump

His face is missing
I have only his bottom
in sky blue y-fronts

turned toward me
while we changed
into native american smocks

It was the play
my first so I
dressed without fear

Brian had something
I did not
a lump

as we expected
in his pants
again

ending his performance
returning him
to the teacher’s hands

He’s disgraced himself
Mrs Norton said
pursed and high up

handing down to me
a new sentence
to pronounce

but also a desire
to unload like Brian
disgrace myself too

I followed my line
like he followed his
and filed into the hall

where

with dumb-eyed grace
I acquitted myself
instead

Paedophiles do not pursue the lives of cuckoos purposefully. We begin loved and welcomed. We are babies, then children and we grow up alongside you.

There was something familiar / about the way you milled, accelerated / when that little playground rock / was first upturned

benjamin harker

It was only a stolen kiss, / on the cheek, snaffled by darting in / over your shoulder, during registration, / while you talked to your friend,
